Massive army operation underway in Reingkhyang Valley of Bilaichhari Upazila

Hill Voice, 27 October 2025, Rangamati: Massive army operation is underway in Reingkhyang Valley of Bilaichari Upazila of Rangamati Hill District. This operation started yesterday, Sunday (26 October).

For this purpose, massive army deployment has been made in Taktanala, Royapadachara of Farua Union of Bilaichhari Upazila and Raimongachara, Saralyechara, Bilpara, Heingochara (currently no villagers) and Gangachara villages of Baratholi Union.

According to the information received, a group of about 46-50 soldiers is currently stationed in Heingochhara under the command of Major Touhid, 2-IC of Ruma 36-Bir Bengal. In addition, 20 army personnel are stationed in Bilpara, who have come from Ronin Para Army Camp (28-EBR, Bandarban Sadar Zone). The said army group is scheduled to conduct an operation in Mitingyachari Tripura Para.

Meanwhile, 24 army personnel from the Tankaitang army camp under Bilaichhari Army Zone of 32-Bir Bengal have taken up positions in Raimongchara of Reingkhyang via Saralyechara yesterday (October 26). They have brought 19 porters with them. Today, Monday, 20 army personnel again went from Tankaitang to Raimongchara. From there, they conducted an operation in Bairakyechara. In total, 44 army personnel are currently stationed there.

On the other hand, 20 army personnel from the Taktanala army camp of Farua union conducted a patrol operation in Roapadachara of the same union on Monday morning.

It is particularly noteworthy that even amid the ongoing army operation, KNF armed members demanded a extortion of Tk 1,500 per family from Shankhamoni Para on the border of Rowangchari and Bilaichari upazilas on Monday.

A total of 40 families live in the said village. Also, a few days ago, an armed group of 18 KNF members went to Tripura Para and Marma Para of Baratholi union of Bilaichari upazila and the KNF demanded an extortion of Tk 1,000 from each family in the village. Subsequently, on October 23, 6 maunds (2 and half quintal) of rice had to be given to KNF from Tripura Para.

From October 6, 2025, the army patrol operation was conducted in Jurachari upazila of Rangamati Hill District. A group of army numbering 30 personnel led by a subedar from the Jakshyabazar Army Camp under the Banjogichara Zone of Jurachari Upazila conducted a raid on the village of Pek Para in Ward No. 9 of Jurachhari Union. The army patrol team jointly conducted a raid on the Dhupshiil and Shaheed Atiyar camps under the 32 Bir Dighal Chara Zone of Bilaichhari Upazila.
