Hill Voice, 9 October 2025, Bandarban: a Jum farmer named Suman Tanchangya (38), s/o Rashi Aung Tanchangya, from Gorjan Bonia, adjacent to Ward No. 8 of Ghumdhum Union of Naikshyangchari Upazila of Bandarban district, has been allegedly kidnapped by Rohingya militant organizations Arakan Solidarity Organization (RSO) and Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA).
He went missing at 2 pm last Wednesday (October 8) while visiting the brinjal fields of Gorjan Bonia, 2-23 km east of his village (Gorjan Bonia).
After the evening, 10-12 people from the village went to search for Suman Tanchangya, who did not return home. They went to Suman Tanchangya’s Jum field and called around the Jum, but found no trace of him. Later, the villagers saw the footprints of 10-12 people on the south side of the Jum.
At that time, the locals suspected that Suman Tanchangya had been taken away by the RSO and ARSA members stationed in the area. When the villagers did not find Suman Tanchangya, they went to the Gorjanbonia BGB camp around 7-8 pm and informed the camp authorities.
The BGB camp authorities recorded the name and address of Suman Tanchangya and said that they would inform the villagers if they found Suman Tanchangya.
It is worth mentioning that on September 23, 2025, another villager named Wamong Tanchangya was abducted by RSO and ARSA militants from Bhalukia of Ghumdhum Union. Wamong Tanchangya has not been found yet.
Earlier, on May 16, 2024, two Tanchangya villagers named Chaila Mong Chakma (29) and Kyamongkho A Tanchangya (25) were abducted by Rohingya militants from the sluice gate area of Hoikyang Naf River No. 5 in Teknaf Upazila of Cox’s Bazar district while they were fishing for crabs.
