Hill Voice, 28 July 2025, Khagrachari: On 27 July 2025, an allegation of sexual harassment was reported against Mohammad Jasim Uddin (45), an assistant teacher at Guimara Collegiate High School in Guimara Upazila of Khagrachari district. He is accused of sexually harassing a Jumma schoolgirl studying in Class 8 at the same school.

It is reported that on 27 April 2025, the accused teacher, Jasim Uddin, touched the victim’s sensitive parts under the pretext of punishment. When the schoolgirl informed her family about the incident, in the morning of 28 July 2025, the victim’s guardians submitted a written complaint to the head teacher of the school, Sushil Ranjan Pal, and to the Guimara Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO). It is further reported that the UNO and the school authorities tried to settle the matter in favor of the accused teacher.

At one point, the head teacher and the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) verbally assured the victim’s guardians that the accused teacher would be dismissed. However, no action was taken in writing. When general students of the school protested the incident, police and army personnel were deployed to the scene. It has been reported that the accused teacher, Jasim Uddin, was taken to the Guimara Army Region by the Army for his protection.

It has been reported that Mohammad Jasim Uddin is associated with the politics of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

Notably, according to statements from some female students at the school, apart from the victim, the accused, Md. Jasim Uddin, sexually harassed students in various ways during class. He would allegedly beat them on sensitive parts with a stick and, under the pretext of showing affection, inappropriately touch their bodies by hand, then touching their waists and other private parts. It has also been reported that when the students threatened to complain to their parents or other teachers, he even threatened to kill them.
