Hill Voice, 30 May 2025, Khagrachhari: It has been reported that on May 29, 2025, at around 9 pm, a Chakma housewife (25) was allegedly attempted to rape by a Bengali settler named Md. Anisur Rahman alias Buddhi (30), son of Chan Mia, in Jamtali, Maischari Union, Mahalchari Upazila, Khagrachari district.

According to the victim’s sources, the victim’s husband was not at home last night. At that time, Md. Anisur Rahman, forcibly broke the door and entered the house. At that time, the victim was sleeping with her 11-month-old child. At that time, the accused tried to rape the victim. He even snatched the 11-month-old child from the victim and threw it on the ground. When the victim tried to defend herself, Md. Anisur Rahman dragged her to the paddy field and tried to rape her. At that time, when the victim screamed, the victim’s husband’s brother and relatives who were nearby came forward to help, and Md. Anisur Rahman fled. Later, when the incident came to light, the victim was sent to Khagrachari Sadar Hospital for treatment that night.

The incident was reported to the Mahalchari Police Station and police arrested Md. Anisur Rahman this morning (May 30). The attempted rape suspect, Anisur Rahman alias Buddhi, is currently in the custody of the Mahalchari Police Station.

It is worth noting that the father of the accused Md. Anisur Rahman alias Buddhi, Md. Chan Mia, is known to be a member of the Bangladesh Ansar Bahini.
