3 abducted by army in Rangamati, 1 handed over to police putting arm with him

Hill Voice, 10 February 2022, Rangamati: It has been alleged that It has been alleged that 3 innocent villagers were held and taken to the camp by the army from Prajuchhara of Mogban Union of Rangamati and one of them was handed over to the police putting arm with him.

The three abductees are Dayanta Chakma (52), son of Chikan Peda Chakma, Aungshweprue Marma (54), fson of Khalochi Marma, and Gyana Ratan Chakma (35), son of Bimal Kanti Chakma. All of them live in Prajuchara of Mogban Union.

According to local sources, on Wednesday (February 9) at 3:00 pm, a group of army numbering 30/35 personnel led by Capt. Md. Mahmudul of Jibtali Camp and Gabghona Army Camp conducted a joint search operation at a place called Prajuchara in Mogban Union. There, they surrounded the houses of 3 victims and took them to Jibtali cantonment (camp) around 5:00 am.

After knowing the matter in the morning, Sabinoy Chakma, member of Ward No. 1 of Mogban Union, Mohammad Mahmudur Haque, member of Ward No. 2 and Kiran Bikash Chakma, member of Ward No. 3 went to Jibtali cantonment around 9:00 am. After pursuing, the army released Aungshweprue Marma (54) and Gyana Ratan Chakma (35), however handed over Dayanta Chakma to the police of Rangamati Kotwali Police Station putting a country-made arm with him.
