Hill Voice, 14 February 2026, Khagrachari: Yesterday (13 February) at around 11 am, 2 innocent villagers of Tripura community in the Sindukchari Punghi Para area of ​​Guimara Upazila under Khagrachari district were allegedly beaten up by UPDF armed terrorists.

The victims are: 1) Dhanechan Tripura (25); 2) Kunendra Tripura (35).

According to village sources, they were summoned from their homes to a secluded place and severely beaten by 3/4 armed cadres of UPDF led by an extortion collector because they had worked for the BNP in the 13th National Parliament elections.

Later, they were released on the condition that they pay a fine of 50,000 taka within 15 days, and were also threatened with death if they did not pay the 50,000 taka.

It is reported that there is still fear among the villagers after this incident.
